With over twenty years of dedicated service in public education, almost all in Oakland Unified School District, Sylvia Williams brings a deep-rooted commitment to making sure OUSD is directing its resources to students and classrooms. She is committed to well-funded community schools that ensure the academic success and social-emotional well-being of every student.

 

Sylvia has called Oakland home for nearly 27 years, the past 11 of which she's been a proud member of the District 4 community. Sylvia earned a Certificate of Education Finance from Georgetown University in order to more deeply understand district budgeting. She is committed to ensuring that budgeting decisions are made with transparency and accountability, aligned with the community's core values. She is a leader who values the diversity of Oakland and is dedicated to finding equitable and sustainable solutions that empower our students and teachers alike.
